Ok, we aren't going to harp on about the 'perfect burger' and claim ours is the best. Lets face it we weren't using veal mince, brioche or anything else as ridiculous.
All we did was combine a pack of reduced lean mince in a bowl with half a finely chopped onion, a little ketchup, some Worcestershire sauce and some salt and pepper.
Its worth getting mince as expensive as you can afford. Lets face it, one pack of the expensive leaner stuff wont cost you anymore that a McDonalds meal.
Whether on the BBQ or under the grill or in the pan, make sure you get the shaping right. Always make it thinner and flatter than you think. Otherwise it will warp into a huge meatball which is awkward when it comes to serving to friends.
For me, its the 'accessories' that make a burger what it is, just like girls and their handbags, heels and highlights etc. ...
...So we had some ciabatta rolls a couple of cheese singles, fresh tomato and some mayo, along with our famous Slutty Slaw to add the colour and the 5 a day of course.
Make the most of the Indian summer this weekend!
